The Monomaniac was published in edition 237 of the Tales, on May 18th 1837. It forms one of Alexander Leightons’ collection of ‘Surgeons tales’ which form their own set within the overall framework of ‘Tales of the Borders’
The Project re-told the Tale in edition 2 of our Revival Editions (still on sale in our shop) and we also created this dramatisation, authored by Dr Michael Fenty, on of our contributors who has dramatised several Tales, the most recent of which was due to be premiered by the Duns Players earlier this year. Although cancelled for 2020, we look forward to seeing it next year at the rearranged festival.
