The WT Project

In 1832, JM Wilson, Editor of the Berwick Advertiser, began publishing local stories, and by 1834 he published the first collection as ‘Wilsons Tales of the Borders, and of Scotland.’   a venture which became phenomenally successful, probably leading to his early demise in 1835.

The weekly Tales were continued after JMW’s death by his widow and new editors for a further 5 years.

We aim to bring the 400+ tales back to life for the benefit of modern audiences, and breath new life into his works, “Historical, Traditionary and Imaginative.”
