The next in our ongoing series of visits to Castles and sites which are mentioned in Tales of the Borders. A conducted tour of places not normally available to the public, together with time for a ‘Picnic in the Park’ and some dramatisation of a tale or part of a Tale. Thirlestane Castle has been the home of the Maitland family for over 400 years, and this is your chance to have a look around in company with our personal guide.
Bring your own picnic, and enjoy a fine summer evening, a welcome glass of something bubbly, and fine conversation. Altogether a grand evening.
The timetable will be something like this:
7pm arrive with own picnic in grounds.
7-50 for 8pm assemble at front door for welcome glass of bubbly.
8-00pm. Welcome from AA and intro to Castle guide – tour of castle stopping at suitable spaces for;
Jackie & Joe Lang- retelling of Midside Maggie
A little more in fill on the Duke of Lauderdale, a highly important figure in Scottish history and the development of the country house library.

The ticket price is £20.00 per head, and place note there is NO facility for ‘turning up’ and purchasing a ticket ‘at the door’ – they must all be resaved here. Payment may follow if necessary, but you MUST BOOK IN ADVANCE.
